A woman in West Richland who was threatening to kill herself was stopped by police late Monday.
West Richland officers were called at 10:45 p.m. to the sports complex at 3000 Bombing Range Road by someone who thought they saw a dead body.
Officers instead found a 21-year-old woman sitting under a tree with cuts on her arms.
When the officers tried to talk with her, she began to cut her neck with large knife and threatened to kill herself. Officer Jared Kelly fired non-lethal bean bag rounds at her arm, forcing her to drop the knife, said Capt. Ben Majetich.
She was then taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland and put in contact with Crisis Response.
