An Oregon 16-year-old teen has been charged with murder-by-abuse and criminal mistreatment in the death of his infant son. Bail has been set at $5 million.
Umatilla County prosecutors on Friday charged the Milton-Freewater teen a day after a grand jury indicted.
The East Oregonian reports that the teen’s court-appointed attorney, Herman Bylenga of Pendleton, entered innocent pleas on behalf of his client in Umatilla County Circuit Court. The teen appeared on a video feed from juvenile jail in The Dalles.
Five-month-old Dominic Freel died June 8 shortly after he was brought to hospital in Walla Walla, Washington.
Prosecutors accuse the father of inflicting deadly physical injury on the infant.
