Two Mattawa residents who were killed and two others in the same collision Monday near Royal City were identified Tuesday.
Ericela Lopez Garcia, 32, and Jose Carmen Marin Cruz, 42, died when the car they were riding in was struck by a pickup that ran a stop sign, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
The two were passengers in a 1993 Honda Accord driven by Lopez Garcia’s 31-year-old husband, Jesus Lopez, the sheriff’s office said.
Jesus Lopez was flown to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, where he was treated and later released Monday afternoon, the release said.
A 2004 Nissan pickup driven by Fabiola Sitio Aniceto, 32, Mattawa, was southbound on Road G-Southwest when it ran a stop sign, striking the passenger side of the Honda, the release.
One passenger in the pickup, Larry Sitio, 12, was taken by ambulance to Othello Community Hospital. Aniceto and two other passengers in the pickup, ario Sitio Hernandez, 41, and Mario Yosue Sitio, 15, both of Mattawa declined treatment, the release said.
Alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the collision, the release said, and everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt. The sheriff’s office did not indicate if charges were anticipated.
