Whether you were looking for entertainment or a cautionary tale, the Pasco Police Department offered it through a complete live tweeting of its New Year’s Eve shifts Thursday night.
Officers tweeted more than 50 times throughout the night, documenting vehicle stops, disturbances and other calls with text, photos and videos.
“Headed to a report of a loud party with underage drinking. So if you are at a loud party with underage drinking, leave before we get there,” read one tweet.
The bulk of the department’s tweets concerned the Pasco Red Lion, where many had rented out banquet space and hotel rooms for parties. One man was eventually arrested for stealing drinks off tables and refusing to leave the hotel. There were also several reports of fights and unruly behavior, including a man found passed out drunk in a hallway.
“Drunk guy took off running, face first into a window and was quoted saying ‘that really hurt’ before running away into the darkness,” said the first in a series of tweets about the incident.
“Drunk guy is described as really drunk, wearing all dark clothing with pine needles sticking out of his hair,” another tweet said. Officers eventually caught up with the man though its unclear if he was arrested or cited.
