There appears to be no significant trauma to a badly decomposed body of a man pulled from the Columbia River over the weekend, said Franklin County Coroner Dan Blasdel.
The coroner’s office is hoping to identify the body through dental records and a possible DNA test. The man was found June 6 downriver from the cable bridge near Sacajawea State Park.
Because of the poor condition of the body, Blasdel can’t estimate how long it had been in the river.
“I couldn’t even tell you the ethnicity,” he said Monday.
The cause of death has not been determined and Blasdel is awaiting test results before making that determination.
Officials have been tracking down leads on people reported missing in around the area, Blasdel said. There are reportedly no Tri-City cases of missing men.
Law enforcement is looking at the possibility the man was connected to a Grant County case, Blasdel said.
Blasdel has contacted a state anthropologist to help identify the body.
