A 52-year-old woman is in critical condition after attempting to hang herself in the Benton County jail.
The woman was arrested May 21 on a warrant and had been at the jail until Saturday, when corrections officers found her unresponsive with bedding tied around her neck, said a sheriff’s office news release.
Medical staff performed CPR, and the woman was taken to Trios Health in Kennewick. Her name was not released.
The Special Investigations Unit, which is comprised of local police, is investigating the incident.
Michael Shae, 22, died in February after apparently committing suicide at the Benton County jail. He was found with bedding tied around his neck.
The SIU is looking into his death as well.
