A 54-year-old Kennewick man was arrested Monday morning for allegedly stabbing a man who was blocking his way into an apartment, saying he wasn’t welcome there.
John W. Wallace was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of first-degree burglary and second-degree assault.
Kennewick police and paramedics responded to a West Sixth Avenue apartment building at 9:45 a.m. and found Mark Huffman bleeding from his forearm, according to police.
Wallace, who was still at the scene, was identified as the suspect and had a knife about six inches long in his pocket, police said.
Wallace allegedly admitted trying to enter Huffman’s apartment.
Huffman, 55, said he prevented Wallace from coming in and pushed him back, telling Wallace he was not welcome. That is when Wallace allegedly became angry and stabbed Huffman in the arm.
