The public is invited to attend a memorial May 4 celebrating the life of former Benton County Sheriff Bob Rupp, who died Saturday at age 100.
The Kennewick native, who also was the oldest living retired Washington State Patrol trooper, dedicated his long life to serving the community, said friends and former law enforcement colleagues.
A public viewing is planned 3 to 5 p.m. May 3 at Hillcrest Memorial Center in Kennewick. His memorial is 1:30 p.m. May 4 at Kennewick First United Methodist Church, 2 S. Dayton St. A public reception will follow the memorial at the church.
Rupp’s family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Washington State Patrol Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 7544, Olympia, WA 98507, or the Chaplaincy for its hospice house by mail to 1480 Fowler St., Richland, WA 99352 or online at http://tricitieschaplaincy.org/donating/.
