A college student forgot his backpack in a Kennewick bank Monday prompting a bomb scare that shut down some traffic in the area for more than two hours.
The Richland police Bomb Squad was called out to Chase Bank on Vista Way before 11:30 a.m. after employees noticed the back pack, according to the Kennewick Police Department.
Police evacuated the bank and blocked off a surrounding street while the bomb team investigated. The man eventually came back to retrieve the back pack and police spoke with him.
Authorities checked the back pack to make sure it wasn’t an explosive before returning it to the man. The bank and street were closed from 11:30 a.m. until nearly 2 p.m.
