A vigil was held Thursday night for the Kennewick father of two who was killed last week when the car he was driving was struck in a hit-and-run crash.
People gathered at Pasco Riverview Seventh-day Adventist Church to honor the life of Jason E. Smith, 36, and support his wife and two daughters, ages 15 and 6.
The crash happened in front of the church and some members know the Smith family. His memorial service is 1 p.m. April 10 at Kennewick’s South Hills Church, 3700 W. 27th Ave.
Authorities continue to search for convicted felon and documented gang member Miguel A. Paniagua, 23, who is accused of driving the truck that caused the crash.
The Pasco man is charged with vehicular homicide, attempting to elude police, first-degree unlawful possession of a gun and failure to stop at the scene.
The crash happened just minutes after Paniagua allegedly fled from police during a traffic stop.
