Alonso G. Madrigal likely was shot by gang members near a Hermiston market March 4, but there is no indication he was a gang member or targeted because of illegal activities, said Hermiston police.
Madrigal, 23, may have been killed because of an ongoing dispute, according to a police report. His shooting was the first homicide in Hermiston in three years,
Members of the Umatilla-Morrow County Major Crime Team believe those responsible for his death are affiliated with one or more gangs outside the Hermiston area.
