Two separate crashes involving seven cars and a tractor and trailer snarled traffic on the blue bridge during rush hour Monday evening.
Three vehicles were involved in the first blue bridge crash at 4:05 p.m. in the southbound righthand lanes of Highway 395.
Volodymyr Oreshko, 45, of Pasco, driving a blue 2001 Volvo tractor and commercial trailer, failed to slow for traffic, colliding with a blue 2007 Toyota Yaris, driven by Rebecca Lynn Spaniel, 25, of Kennewick, the state patrol said.
Inattention caused the crash and Oreshko was cited for first-degree negligent driving, the state patrol said.
Spaniel’s car was pushed into a black 2009 Audi A4, driven by Leslie Mendez, 22, of Kennewick.
Spaniel was taken to Trios Health with unknown injuries; Mendez and Oreshko were not injured, the state patrol said.
The second crash involved five cars at 4:47 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 395 on the blue bridge.
Arthur Esparza, 58, of Kennewick, driving a tan 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue, failed to slow for heavy traffic and struck a white 1998 Ford F150 Pickup driven by Michele L. McIntosh, 42, of Pasco, the state patrol said.
McIntosh’s pickup was pushed into a black 2002 Ford Escape, driven by Johnny B. Stucks, 39, of Priest River, Idaho.
Stucks’ car was then pushed into two cars stopped for heavy traffic: Rhett N. Kolste, 27, of Fairfield, Mont., driving a tan 2003 Ford Taurus four-door and Francisco J. Romero, 19, of Pasco, driving a white 2012 Ford Fusion 4 Door.
Stucks was injured and taken to Trios Health with unknown injuries. The other drivers were not injured, the state patrol said.
