A Kennewick man is in serious condition at a local hospital after he suffered a medical issue during an altercation at the Franklin County jail.
Russell Sharrer, 54, was brought to the jail about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday after he was arrested for outstanding warrants, authorities said.
He got into a struggle with a state trooper and corrections officers as he was going from the patrol car to the booking area, authorities said. During the incident, Sharrer had an unknown medical episode and staff called paramedics.
Sharrer was then taken to a hospital to be treated.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office notified the Special Investigations Unit. The team of local law enforcement is investigating.
