An employee of a Pasco staffing company faces a March 9 trial on allegations he used a business credit card to shop for personal items at Costco in Kennewick.
Edigar Morales, 41, pleaded innocent Thursday in Benton County Superior Court to second-degree theft.
The charge includes the aggravating circumstance allegation that he used his position of trust to commit the crime.
The Hermiston man was employed by Atkinson Staffing, a company that helps find temporary workers for agricultural and industrial jobs.
Never miss a local story.
Jonette Atkinson told Kennewick police that Morales had worked for the company between February 2012 and February 2014, and had been given a business credit card to use for purchasing items for Atkinson Staffing, court documents said.
However, an audit of the purchases showed Morales used the card to charge up $2,306 in items for himself, documents said.
Morales also allegedly made unauthorized purchases in Umatilla County, and was questioned about the card activity in August by a Hermiston police detective.
Morales reportedly admitted buying personal goods like fabric softener, groceries, socks and underwear.
