A Richland woman died and four Kennewick residents were injured Monday night in a three-car crash on Interstate 82 a mile west of Granger, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Mary A. Nelson, 87, was driving the wrong direction on the highway about 6:30 p.m., state police said. She was killed in the crash.
Nelson, driving a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle, was westbound in the eastbound lanes when her car struck a 2003 Toyota Corolla driven by Heidi K. Slinker, 32, of Sunnyside, state police said. Slinker was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she was listed in serious condition in intensive care.
Slinker’s car crashed into an eastbound 1991 Honda Accord driven by Griselda Gomez, 35, of Kennewick. Gomez’s passengers were Jose M. Muniz, 43, Alexander M. Muniz, 5, and Juan J. Muniz, 3. They were all taken to Yakima Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries.

Gomez was listed in stable condition Tuesday morning.
The state patrol said the crash is under investigation.
