Police are investigating the theft of mail Tuesday from several houses in adjacent Kennewick neighborhoods.
Residents awoke Tuesday morning to find mail scattered across their neighborhoods, police said. At least seven homes were targeted on South Harrison, South Grant and South Fillmore streets.
Police say most mail was recovered, however birthday and holiday cards appeared to be opened.
“Usually suspects are looking for gift cards in this type of mail and this is a prime time of year to be looking for them,” said Sgt. Ken Lattin in a news release.

Police ask anyone who may have lost mail to call the Benton County non-emergency line at 509-628-0333.
Possible witnesses are also encouraged to come forward. Police advise residents to lock their mail boxes.
