A Kennewick man is accused of leading police on a car chase that ended when the truck he was allegedly driving crashed into a house.
Eduardo Salazar, 23, was booked into the Benton County jail on outstanding warrants following the chase.
An officer tried to stop the truck for speeding on Columbia Drive about 1 a.m. Monday, but Salazar fled, police said. Police chose not to pursue and the truck was spotted a short time later speeding south near the 800 block of Columbia Center Boulevard.
A few minutes later, the truck crashed into a house on the 8300 block of West 10th Avenue, police said. A resident reported two men ran from the vehicle into a nearby orchard.
Police found the passenger, who is the son of the truck’s owner, in the area and arrested him, police said. Salazar apparently ran home and police arrested him as he tried to escape from the house.
Richland police and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office assisted with arresting the suspects.
The case is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
