A Sunnyside man died after crashing a pickup into a semi-truck, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Jorge A. Espindola, 34, died at the scene after driving a 2007 Honda Ridgeline pickup across the center line while driving east on Highway 24. He collided with a 2000 freight tractor and trailer at 5:22 p.m. Saturday, State Patrol said. The driver of the semi-truck, Richard Holman, 50, of Ritzville, was not injured, but his truck was totaled in the collision near the northwestern part of Hanford in Benton County, State Patrol said.
The cause of the collision is under investigation, State Patrol said. The highway was closed for more than five hours after the collision while troopers investigated.
