A 30-year-old man charged with shooting a Kennewick man in the foot has agreed to move his trial to Dec. 10.
Kenyetta T. Turner waived his right to a speedy trial for first-degree assault and second-degree unlawful possession of a gun.
During a June 24 dispute between two groups of people at East Butte Street and South Douglas Avenue, Turner allegedly stood in the middle of the road and fired a gun at another person in a car on Douglas. He continued to shoot toward the car as it drove away, court documents said.
Callers told police dispatchers that they heard about seven to eight gunshots and saw two vehicles leaving the area, documents said. In all, police reported recovering 25 shell casings at the scene.
Miguel A. Montenegro was shot in the foot after he ducked behind a vehicle.
Prosecutors claim after the shooting, Turner jumped in a white pickup and left.
Prosecutors claim the driver was Sudric Turner. His trial also is set for Dec. 10 on one felony count of first-degree rendering criminal assistance.
Both men are out of custody pending their trials.
