A suspected shoplifter at Macy’s in Kennewick was arrested after being tackled in the parking lot by another shopper. Mikhail Barbarosh, 28, of Pasco, was jailed Tuesday night on investigation of first-degree robbery after he fought with store employees and injured a security officer who allegedly tried to stop him from shoplifting.
Barbarosh reportedly ran from the store and was followed by another shopper who saw the confrontation with employees. The shopper tackled him in the parking lot and was fighting with him when Kennewick police arrived.
Barbarosh continued to struggle even after being handcuffed, Kennewick police said.
It was then that Barbarosh’s accomplice Melinda Carter, 19, pulled up in Barbarosh’s car, got out and began yelling at the officer and citizens.
Carter refused to listen to an officer’s order to back up. When the officer told her she was under arrest, she cursed him and tried to slap him, police said.
She was booked on suspicion of obstructing and resisting arrest, and third-degree assault.
