Three Tri-City teens were arrested after they allegedly tried to shoplift alcohol at the Target store in Kennewick.
Police were called to the store on Columbia Center Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon after two male teens tried to steal alcohol, police said.
The teens ran before officers arrived, riding off in a red car driven by a third person, said police.
The car was spotted on Columbia Center Boulevard between Grandridge Boulevard and Deschutes Avenue. The car did not stop for police but turned around and headed back toward Columbia Center mall, where it was found abandoned a few minutes later.
Police searched the area around the mall and eventually found the three suspects. Police chased them inside and outside of the mall before they were caught.
The owner of the car, Joshua Aguilar, 18, of Kennewick, was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of third-degree theft and obstruction.
A 17-year-old Kennewick boy was booked into juvenile detention on suspicion of third-degree theft, fourth-degree assault, obstruction and resisting arrest. The 16-year-old Kennewick girl who was driving Aguilar’s car was booked into juvenile detention on suspicion of third-degree theft and eluding.
