A Pasco man has pleaded innocent to allegations he abused his former wife's autistic son with a belt.
Anthony Romero Braxton, 56, faces a Nov. 5 trial on one felony count of third-degree assault of a child with domestic violence.
Officer Matthew Griffin responded to Pasco's Lourdes Medical Center at 12:34 a.m. Sept. 6 for an assault case.
The victim's mother told Griffin that her then-9-year-old son was physically abused by Braxton. The boy had bruises on his arms and the front and back of his legs consistent with abuse, Griffin wrote in court documents.
Braxton told the officer he hit the boy 20 times "because (the boy) wouldn't tell (Braxton) where he put the scissors that were used to cut his hair," documents said. Braxton said he felt bad when he saw the severity of the bruises.
He is out of jail on his personal recognizance but is not allowed to contact with his ex-wife or the boy while the case is pending.
