Kennewick police arrested a man Sunday after he allegedly swung a hatchet at another driver out of road rage.
Victoria Wynalda was driving in the area around Kennewick Avenue and Vista Way with her six children as passengers when she went to change lanes, a release said. She then noticed another vehicle in her blind spot, immediately returned to her lane and let that vehicle pass.
When Wynalda reached the area of Fourth Avenue and Olympia Street, the same vehicle pulled up alongside her and a man leaned out the passenger side window and began yelling and swinging a hatchet.
The suspect vehicle pulled into a parking lot at 1001 W. Fourth Ave. and Wynalda contacted police.
Officers arrived and stopped driver Ricci Vogel and passenger Edward Bolt as they prepared to leave the lot. Police saw a hatchet on the floor of the passenger side.
Bolt was arrested under suspicion of displaying a dangerous weapon and booked in to the Benton County jail. Ricci was cited and released for third-degree driving with license suspended.
