An inmate was on the loose for 2 1/2 hours Sunday after he escaped from the Grant County jail while another person was being released.
Jaime D. Hampshire, 29, was caught at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at a Moses Lake home and returned to the jail in Ephrata, according to a Grant County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Hampshire was being held on felony theft charges. He took off at 10 a.m.
“This was a great coordinated effort between Ephrata Police Department and Grant County Sheriff’s Office resulting in a quick apprehension of the subject,” said Sheriff Tom Jones.
The office is investigating the circumstances of Hampshire’s escape.
