A 20-year-old man faces multiple felonies for allegedly taking pictures and videos of himself having sex with a teen girl.
Hundreds of pornographic images of the girl were found on one of three cellphones that were in Frank Murillo IV's possession during his February arrest, according to court documents.
Murillo at the time was picked up for being behind the wheel of a vehicle when his driver's license was suspended and for violating probation conditions. But a search of his vehicle allegedly turned up 78 grams of marijuana in a total of 12 baggies and a jar of pot.
Murillo, who gave Pasco police his medical marijuana authorization, claimed, "The marijuana was his medicine and that he just liked to smoke a lot," documents said.
The Pasco man has pleaded innocent in Franklin County Superior Court to sexual exploitation of a minor, possession with intent to deliver marijuana and 10 counts of first-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Murillo already had a pending charge of possession with intent to deliver marijuana.
His bail is set at $25,000 in the newer case with a Sept. 10 trial date. He has an additional $15,000 bail on the drug case.
Pasco Officer Chad Pettijohn reportedly saw Murillo driving near the Tahitian Motor Inn at 2:10 p.m. Feb. 18. Pettijohn said he's had numerous contacts with Murillo over the past five years and knew he shouldn't be driving, so he arrested Murillo.
A community corrections officer directed the initial search of Murillo's car because he'd violated his Department of Corrections conditions, and the evidence observed by officers led Pettijohn to get a search warrant signed by a judge.
Pettijohn noted that the marijuana found in the back seat floor area was in smaller baggies to aid in quick distribution, court documents said. Another search of his West Lewis Street motel room revealed a digital scale and additional baggies, documents said.
The officer was searching Murillo's three phones when he discovered the sex videos with a 16-year-old girl, so Pettijohn got a follow-up warrant to retrieve any evidence of child porn, court documents said.
The girl told police that the sexual contact happened Valentine's Day at the motel, confirmed it was her on the videos and said Murillo never talked to her about filming the sex acts but just started recording, documents said.
Pettijohn said he recognizes Murillo's voice, tattoos and part of his face from the previous contacts.
A Richland police detective who analyzed the phone recovered about 1,600 pornographic images of the girl and a few of her using marijuana with a smoking device in Murillo's motel room, court documents said.
After his April 30 arrest on the unrelated marijuana delivery charge, Murillo allegedly admitted to creating the videos and taking the pictures. He also claimed that another phone would have communications about his buying and selling pot.
Murillo's criminal history includes residential burglary in 2008 and a 2013 manufacturing of marijuana conviction for growing 39 plants in his apartment.
