Police have identified the man who was reportedly going door to door asking to test residents’ water.
Police did not release the man’s name and he was not arrested.
Authorities warned residents throughout the week about a man going door to door claiming to be a salesman and city employee.
The man told police he works for company out of California and was with a group of salesman, police said. The group was apparently targeting residents in Kennewick and Pasco.
He told residents he worked for a company called “Aqua Clean,” police said. The company is not licensed by the city.
He asked to test their water and then tried to sell them a filtration system, police said. The man also told residents he was working for the city, though he had no uniform or city-issued vehicle.
The company has not applied for a business license and officials will not grant them one if they do apply, police said.
