Police say an unidentified man posing as a Kennewick city employee tried to get into a woman’s house.
The man showed up Monday at a house on the 500 block of West 20th Avenue and told the woman he was there to do a water test, police said. The man was not wearing a uniform and was not driving a city vehicle.
The man said the city sent him because he spoke Spanish well, police said. He was fidgeting and talking fast to the resident.
The woman did not let the suspect in and called police.
Police investigated and determined the man is not a city employee. They want to warn citizens about the incident.
Kennewick Public Works employees wear city-issued clothes and drive city vehicles while working.
