A man was arrested Saturday after a burglary victim helped Kennewick police track a signal from a stolen cellphone.
Kevin Wilson, 30, was found to have items stolen from a home in the 700 block of South Wilson Street in his possession, as well as narcotics. He was arrested and booked into the Benton County jail under suspicion of residential burglary and violation of the Unified Controlled Substance Act.
According to a news release, a man broke into Daniel Schweiger's South Wilson Street home at 4:18 a.m., taking prescription medicine, cellphones, a purse, credit cards and cash. Schweiger reported the burglary and a description of the suspect to police, and tracked the location of one of the stolen phones with an online GPS tracker.
The signal was traced to restrooms at Hansen Park, where police found one of the stolen prescription bottles but no suspect. Schweiger and his brother helped police search the area, and Schweiger's brother found a man matching the description of the alleged burglar in the 8300 block of West Fifth Avenue.
