A Pasco man pleaded innocent Tuesday to killing a female friend and then stuffing her body in a closet.
Guadalupe Montejano, 48, is charged in Franklin County Superior Court with one count of first-degree murder.
Pasco police found the body of Tamie Alane Clark-Acevedo the night of Jan. 3 in Montejano’s apartment on Lewis Street.
Clark-Acevedo, 46, suffered severe head wounds and her throat had a deep cut made by a sharp object, court documents said.
Her body was covered by a sleeping bag. It is not known how long she had been dead when officers got the tip and found her.
The victim’s friends said Clark-Acevedo and Montejano were acquaintances, and she was staying with him until she could afford to find a place of her own.
Montejano remains in the Franklin County jail on $500,000 bail. His trial is set for March 19.
