A man was arrested early Sunday after he allegedly broke into a Kennewick home and assaulted the woman living there.
Kennewick police were called to the home in the 100 block of 15th Avenue just after 4 a.m., a release said. The victim told authorities that Jaime Torres, 23, forced his way into her home and was armed with a knife. Torres assaulted the woman and attempted to rape her.
Officers found Torres hiding outside the home when they arrived. He was booked into the Benton County jail under suspicion of first-degree burglary and second-degree assault. The case is still under investigation.
