An elderly Kennewick man suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease was found safe late Tuesday in southern Wasco County, Ore.
Kennewick police called Oregon State Police at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday to help search for the man who was driving a silver 2006 Jeep Liberty with Washington license plates, said a news release.
Kennewick officers tracked the man’s cellphone signal to Sherman County in Oregon.
OSP troopers from Madras and The Dalles checked Highway 97 between Biggs Junction and Madras but didn't find the Jeep.

About 11 p.m. OSP Trooper Matthew Newby was checking along Highway 197 when he found the missing man and Jeep stopped near milepost 53, about eight miles south of Maupin in southern Wasco County.
Kennewick police notified family members who drove to The Dalles where Newby transported the man to be reunited with his family.
