A 19-year-old Richland man accused of fatally shooting his friend on July 4 won’t face a jury until after the new year.
Joshua H. Hunt waived his right to a speedy trial Monday so the trial could be moved to Feb. 10. Benton County prosecutors agreed to the delay.
Hunt and co-defendant John C.I. Young, 18, are charged with first-degree murder in Benton County Superior Court. Young’s trial is March 3.
Prosecutors claim the friends killed Josh Snapp, 17, after an all-night party in Richland.
Police got word of the slaying after an employee at a gas station called 911, saying a man in the store — later identified as Young — was reporting that someone had been shot.
