A convicted felon who led police on a car chase through Kennewick in 2012 was recently sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison.
Roman Henry Estrada, 31, of Kennewick, was convicted of possessing a firearm and was sentenced to 91 months and 23 days in prison, Kennewick police Sgt. Ken Lattin said Tuesday.
Estrada -- a documented gang member from Southern California -- fled from police in a stolen car on Dec. 13, Lattin said. He was eventually arrested by Washington State Patrol troopers.
When investigators searched the stolen Honda Accord, they found a handgun on the driver’s side floorboard, Lattin said. The gun was stolen during a residential burglary in Kennewick.
Never miss a local story.
Estrada’s case was forwarded to Michael C. Ormsby, the U.S. Attorney for Eastern Washington.
Ormsby’s office routinely handles local cases involving felons in possession of firearms, Lattin said.
