Two people were injured after a car failed to yield and drove into a truck early Tuesday morning on Highway 24 in Benton County, the Washington State Patrol reported.
James G. Hopfinger, 58, of Yakima, was driving a 1997 Buick Lesabre east on Highway 24 at 5:45 a.m.when he stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 240, state police said.
Hopfinger failed to yield and drove into the intersection and struck a 2003 Freightliner truck-tractor driven by Lori E. Rolston, 47, of Deer Park, state police said.
Hopfinger and his passenger, Christopher C Pharmer, 56, of Yakima, were taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.
Rolston was not injured.
The state patrol said Hopfinger would be cited for failing to yield.
