Police may have found a crucial piece of evidence in a murder case that left a 17-year-old Richland boy dead.
An investigator found a back pack Tuesday in the Yakima River that matches the one a suspect in Josh Snapp’s slaying reportedly tossed before being arrested, said Richland police Capt. Mike Cobb.
Police had been searching for the back pack -- which is believed to contain the gun and shoes used in the crime -- since the shooting on July 4.
Two suspects, Joshua H. Hunt, 19, and John. C.I. Young, 18, were arrested shortly after the shooting and have been charged with first-degree murder.

Hunt told police he put the gun and shoes into the back pack and tossed it in the river before being arrested at a gas station in Benton City, court documents said.
