The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners will decide Wednesday whether to seek a court order to shut down the Rodeo City Inn, a Pendleton motel considered to be a hive of criminal activity.
The sheriff’s office recently notified the owner and residents of the 52-room inn that it would ask commissioners to close it.
The commissioners can declare a place a crime property if any of 16 crimes occur on the property three or more times in a 90-day span.
The sheriff’s office says it has responded to the inn 300 times this year.

Eli Stephens owns property next door. He tells the East Oregonian newspaper that dogs run wild at the inn, trash blows all over the place and a criminal element is a constant presence.
