A Pasco man featured on Washington's Most Wanted for allegedly firing at his ex-girlfriend turned himself in to a community corrections office Monday, according to the show's producer.
Richard Dana Linderman, 41, walked in to the state Department of Corrections' Kennewick field unit, saying he saw himself featured Saturday night on FOX 11 in the Tri-Cities, said David Rose, host and executive producer of Washington's Most Wanted.
Linderman -- who also uses the name Steve -- was wanted for the New Year's Day incident outside a Richland home.
He reportedly told Community Corrections Officer Ross Esparza on Monday that he would rather be arrested by DOC officers than U.S. Marshals or Tri-City law enforcement, Rose told the Herald in an email.
Linderman was booked into the Benton County jail.
Richland police say Linderman shot at his ex as she sat in a car with her new boyfriend while parked outside her parents' Thayer Drive home.
The woman and her boyfriend reported that Linderman parked near the home around 4:30 p.m. Jan. 1 and approached their car, then pulled out a dark-colored semi-automatic handgun and pointed it in their direction.
She threw the car into reverse and tried to leave while Linderman fired, police Capt. Mike Cobb said at the time. The passenger ducked down in the seat, but reported hearing a gunshot and sitting back up to see smoke as he looked in Linderman's direction, Cobb said.
Linderman then allegedly got back into the car he was driving and took off.
No one was injured in the shooting. Investigators couldn't find a shell casing or bullet impact point at the scene, but other witnesses including the woman's parents confirmed hearing at least one shot fired, Cobb said.
Police at the time said Linderman should be considered armed and dangerous.
Linderman is the 360th fugitive to either surrender or be arrested since Washington's Most Wanted started spotlighting the state's top fugitives in November 2008, said Rose.
The weekly program is a regional take on the widely successful America's Most Wanted.
