A 29-year-old Burbank man was sentenced to four months in jail after admitting to driving recklessly while trying to get away from police.
Alfredo Borrego Jr. pleaded guilty Tuesday in Franklin County Superior Court to attempting to elude a pursing police vehicle.
He faced a sentence of up to eight months in jail, but Judge Craig Matheson agreed to follow the prosecutor's four-month recommendation.
If Borrego qualifies, he can serve his time on work release.
"You have too much criminal history for someone like yourself," Matheson told him. "You need to straighten up."
Borrego was arrested by Pasco police Aug. 19 after officers spotted him swerve off Fourth Avenue into the gravel, then drive off the sidewalk at the parking lot of a businesses at 2410 N. Fourth Avenue, court documents stated.
Officers were heading to a 911 hang-up call on Empire Drive when Borrego was seen driving erratically.
The officer turned around to try to stop Borrego, who then went onto Interstate 182, then exited onto Oregon Street.
The officer said he was going about 85 mph to 90 mph trying to catch up to Borrego, who was pulling away from him, documents stated.
The vehicle started slowing down and the driver's side door opened. Borrego then jumped out once the car stopped and took off running, documents stated.
He was arrested after a short chase on foot.
After his arrest, Borrego told officers he saw the patrol car's lights but tried to get away because he didn't want to go back to prison.
Pasco man denies hitting his pregnant girlfriend
A 21-year-old Pasco man pleaded innocent to punching his pregnant girlfriend in the face during an argument.
Joseph S. Valerio faces a Dec. 19 trial in Franklin County Superior Court to assault in violation of a no contact order.
Valerio previously was order ed to have no contact with his 22-year-old girlfriend, documents stated.
He was arrested Sept. 11 by Pasco police after the victim called 911. When officers arrived at the Victory Manor Apartments, 1523 N. 16th Ave., she told police that she and Valerio had gotten into an argument over who she was calling on her cellphone, documents stated.
Valerio allegedly punched her multiple times in her face, knocking her down.
The victim is three months pregnant, documents stated. She and Valerio have two daughters.
Valerio left the apartment before police arrived but returned while officers were there and was arrested.
Burbank man faces trial for marijuana possession
An 18-year-old Burbank man faces a Dec. 12 trial for allegedly having more than 4 pounds of marijuana packaged to be sold.
Collin Dow was arrested Sept. 19 by Pasco police after officers were called to the apartments at 507 N. Fourth Ave. for a report of two men smoking marijuana.
Dow and Jack Bradley George Jr., 21, pleaded innocent Tuesday in Franklin County Superior Court to unlawful possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
George, who also had his trial set for Dec. 12, also is charged with carrying a concealed pistol without a license.
The duo were stopped by officers as they exited the elevators at the apartments and were identified by the apartment manager, court documents stated.
An officer said the smell of marijuana was "overwhelming" while he spoke to Dow, and George and he could see marijuana in one of the boxes they were carrying, documents stated.
A glass jar with marijuana was found in one box, along with smoking pipes, 100 small plastic bags and 4.4 pounds of marijuana, documents stated.
Several small bags filled with marijuana also were found in a box, documents stated.
A Taurus revolver was reportedly found in George's waistband after officers detained and frisked him.
