A 50-year-old Yakima man arrested Saturday for lewd conduct ended up being shocked with a Taser after he reportedly got into an altercation with corrections officers at the Benton County jail.
Craig Jack Eves was arrested by Kennewick police after officers found him sitting nude in an empty field in the 7000 block of West Deschutes Avenue, said Kennewick police Sgt. Ken Lattin.
Eves was booked into the jail for the misdemeanor offense at 10:44 a.m., according to jail logs.
At some point during the booking process, Eves started to act out and started yelling at corrections officers, said Benton County sheriff's jail Capt. Jon Law.
When he started to resist, they had to wrestle him to the floor, Law said.
During the struggle, two officers suffered injuries.
Eves continued to fight with officers and after refusing orders to stop, another corrections officer stepped in and shocked Eves with a Taser gun, Law said.
Eves apparently continued to resist after being stunned by the Taser, but officers were eventually able to get him into the holding cell.
Jail staff sent a report to prosecutors to hold Eves on two felony counts of third-degree assault.
The corrections officer with a wrist injury was able to continue working, Law said. An officer who hurt his shoulder is off work pending further medical tests.
