KENNEWICK -- A 44-year-old Kennewick man is going to prison for taking a number of electronics from a locked display case at Sears.
Donald Allen Johnson pleaded guilty to second-degree theft for the Sept. 10, 2010, crime.
He reportedly was seen on store security video opening the locked cabinet at the Columbia Center mall store and removing three iPods, five mp3 players and four Magellan GPS devices, court documents said.
A store employee tried to contact Johnson before he left the store, but the suspect got away.
That employee, along with a relative of Johnson who also was seen on the video, identified him as the thief, documents said. The value of the stolen items was more than $1,500.
Johnson was sentenced to a one-year, 10-month prison term.
