A Kennewick man pleaded innocent to allegations he stole lottery tickets while working as a clerk at a Kennewick gas station.
Brian Donald Pineau, 33, is charged in Benton County Superior Court with second-degree theft. His trial is July 30.
Pineau is accused of stealing $2,179 worth of lottery tickets from the Conoco Total Stop between Nov. 7, 2010 and Dec. 6, 2010, court documents said.
The owner said employees begin and end each shift by noting the next sequence number of the lottery tickets, which should match up with the number of tickets sold during the shift, documents said.

Police were called after the owner said he noticed Pineau's log showed discrepancies between the ticket numbers and the actual number of tickets sold, documents said.
Pineau reportedly told investigators that he thought he had taken about 40 lottery tickets during his shifts, but a review showed the discrepancy totaled $2,179, documents said.
Defense attorney Dan Arnold was appointed to represent Pineau. He questioned why it has taken so long for the charge to be filed.
