A Carmichael Middle School student was arrested Tuesday after he brought a Taser to school and threatened to use it, say police.
The 13-year-old boy was upset about a recent breakup and he began making threats in recent days, said Richland police Capt. Mike Cobb.
Another student told his mother about the teen saying he planned to “shoot up the school,” Carmichael Principal Erin Easton said in an email to parents at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
A school administrator called the suspected student into the school office Tuesday morning to talk with him. As part of the investigation, administrators learned he threatened to stun two students with a Taser.
School officials then found the Taser tucked into his backpack in his locker and called police.
The student is on emergency expulsion while the investigation continues.
He was arrested and taken to the Benton-Franklin Juvenile Justice Center in Kennewick, said Cobb.
