A Richland bus driver is on leave after a fatal collision with a motorcyclist while he was dropping off his last student.
The Richland School District placed James Fleming, 46, of Richland, on leave as part of the district’s standard protocol during investigations, said spokesman Steve Aagaard.
Fleming, a full-time bus driver since 2012, will be on paid leave until the Washington State Patrol and the Richland School District investigations are completed.
Fleming was turning onto East Bronco Lane from Van Giesen Street in Richland on Monday evening with a Lewis and Clark Elementary School student and a para-educator onboard, said Aagaard.

He reportedly turned in front of motorcyclist Douglas A. Walters, 59, of Kennewick, who died at the scene, according to the Washington State Patrol.
