An alleged drunk driver was arrested after he plowed through a Kennewick roundabout and crashed his car Wednesday morning.
Joshua Cameron Fischer, 25, of Kennewick, was driving south on Kellogg Avenue toward West Fourth Avenue in a silver Ford sedan at 4 a.m. He drove over the center of a roundabout, missing all the boulders and crashed on a sidewalk near the south end, said Kennewick police.
Fischer was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of DUI.
A similar wreck happened off Highway 240 in Richland last month when an alleged drunk driver drove through the roundabout going about 100 mph.
Fischer was likely going the speed limit since his car didn’t travel far, said Sgt. Randy Maynard of Kennewick police.
“Even if you’re going the speed limit, you’ve got the change in the roadway where you’ve got to navigate through the roundabout,” Maynard said “It’s slower for a person under the influence to negotiate those changes.”
