An end-of-school year celebration at the Gesa Carousel of Dreams raised $1,690 to help community members in need.
The donation was made this week to the Kennewick Police Department’s Community Care Program, which helps anyone who becomes stranded or needs food or other essential items.
Just last week, the fund helped a local veteran returning from Afghanistan to get home when he ran out of gas.
Carousel director Parker Hodge said they hope to make the end-of-year party even better next year. “We want it to be a community thing,” he said.
Never miss a local story.
The carousel donated its facilities, the Kennewick Rotary supplied food and beverages, Kennewick firefighters and police personnel were on hand, and Richland also participated.
