The Army Corps began its summer water spill for fish at McNary Dam and other Columbia River dams Tuesday.
The lower Snake River dams will transition to summer spill operations on June 21. The spill to benefit fish will continue through Aug. 31 at all eight Columbia and Snake river dams.
Operations will be similar to those implemented last summer, as outlined in the 2015 Fish Operations Plan.
The goal is to provide timely and safe passage of juvenile salmon through the hydropower system during their out-migration to the ocean.
