Get ready for a scorching hot day in the Tri-Cities.
The temperature could reach 105 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Tuesday also could see triple digit temperatures, with a high of 101 degrees forecast for the Tri-Cities.
Temperatures have not been this warm in the Mid-Columbia since the start of August last year, according to the weather service. It warns people to be cautious in the heat because they are not yet acclimated to such high temperatures this season.
A warm ridge of high pressure off the Pacific Ocean has parked itself over the region, causing the unusually high temperatures. Highs are usually about 80 degrees in the Tri-Cities the second week of June.
Temperatures should drop back to the mid 90s Wednesday and Thursday and then into the upper 80s Friday.
