PENDLETON -- Internationally acclaimed author and climber Isabel Suppe of Argentina will present her book, Starry Night, at 2 p.m. Oct. 7 at Tamastslikt Cultural Institute, 47106 Wildhorse Blvd. in Pendleton.
Suppe, an experienced climber, was near the summit of Ala Izquierda in the Bolivian Andes when her partner's anchors failed to hold and dropped both climbers 1,100 feet.
Her partner did not survive, and she spent more than 40 hours battling forceful winds and below-freezing temperatures with a broken leg before her rescue.
In her book, Suppe describes her experience and how it has influenced her life.
Never miss a local story.
Free copies will be available for guests. Admission is free, and guests of all ages are invited to attend.
