A Richland High School junior will attend the February convention for the nation's only honor research society for high school scientists.
Swetha Shutthanandan was selected by the Washington State Academy of Sciences to participate in the American Junior Academy of Sciences event, which will be in San Jose, Calif., a release said.
Only invited students may join the junior academy and each state's academy of science chooses delegates to the organization. Swetha is one of three selected from Washington. She has received numerous awards for her science projects and research, which focus on energy, in recent years.
Swetha also will speak at the state academy's annual symposium on Sept. 18 in Seattle.
