Cooler temperatures will not be far behind the first day of autumn Sept. 23.
Today the high should reach about 87 degrees in the Tri-Cities.
But a storm system may bring rain showers and should drop high temperatures into the 70s starting Thursday in the Tri-Cities.
Highs should be in the low 70s Thursday and Friday, raising to the mid 70s Saturday and Sunday.
Lows should be in the low 50s at the end of the week through Sunday.
The normal high for the Tri-Cities at the end of August is about 74 degrees and the normal low is 47 degrees.
